NEW YORK, March 28, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- InvestmentNews will collaborate with the United Nations Office for Partnerships (UNOP) to host the inaugural Impact Forum on December 4-5, 2019, in New York City. The event will kick off with a film festival bringing the impact investing movement to life followed by a conference for the financial advice industry hosted the next day at the United Nations.
"Investors have an appetite to make an impact with their investments," said Suzanne Siracuse, CEO and Publisher of InvestmentNews. "Financial advisers are looking for ways to translate the global perspective into investment concepts that resonate with clients. We couldn't think of a better partner than the United Nations to bring a global viewpoint to the Impact Forum."
The United Nation's 17 Sustainable Development Goals address social and economic challenges including poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, and peace and justice. These are just several of the key issues that will be woven into the films, panels, roundtables and keynotes at the two-day event.
"The Sustainable Development Goals provide a shared blueprint for people, planet, peace and prosperity," noted Robert Skinner, Executive Director of UNOP. "To achieve the Goals by 2030, we need all sectors contributing and working together, which is why we are so pleased to be working with InvestmentNews to bring investors to the UN."
The Impact Forum will provide financial advisers, investment professionals, asset managers, broker-dealers, and numerous advocates an opportunity to exchange expertise and share practical ways to incorporate impact investing products and concepts into clients' portfolios to serve as a business growth opportunity, and as a source of inspiration for next-gen advisors and investors that can lead to successful outcomes for all parties involved.
InvestmentNews is developing the agenda with the help of its impressive advisory board. Joining the effort are: Michele Bongiovanni, CEO/Founder, HealRWorld; Colleen Denzler, Investor at Smith Capital Investors; Steve Distante, CEO, Vanderbilt Financial Group; Sonya Dreizler, Impact Investing Consultant to financial services firms; Jeff Gitterman, Co-founder of Gitterman Wealth Management, LLC; Jennifer Kenning, CEO of Align Impact; and Max Mintz, Co-founder, Common Interests.
Skinner added, "Kicking off the Impact Forum with films featuring investments that make a real difference will inspire the conversations that follow. The need for impact investing around the SDGs is real, and this event will provide concrete examples of how it's done and why it matters."
