General Electric Company Analyst Notes
On June 16, 2014, General Electric Company (GE) announced that its GE Capital Commercial Distribution Finance (CDF) business is rapidly growing its inventory financing portfolio with smaller and newer motorsports brands. According to the Company, CDF has started programs with manufacturers specializing in one or two segments of the powersports market, and has signed over 20 new entrants in the last two years. GE stated that CDF's new manufacturer relationships include Gibbs Sports Amphibians, Inc., Erik Buell Racing LLC, Bennche, Inc., and Massimo Motor Sports, LLC. 3M Co. Analyst Notes
On June 13, 2014, 3M Co. (3M), together with xperion, announced an agreement for developing a new line of 3M-branded compressed natural gas (CNG) tanks to be used in the heavy-duty transportation industry. According to 3M, the tanks will combine 3M's Matrix Resin technology with xperion's world-class engineering and proprietary design technology. 3M stated that a new xperion facility, which is currently being constructed near Columbus, Ohio in the city of Heath, will deliver production of these new tanks starting later in 2014. Eaton Corporation Analyst Notes
On June 16, 2014, Eaton Corporation (Eaton) announced that former co-op student Kyle Croes, who was hired as a full-time Eaton employee in May 2014, has won the 2014 Institute of Industrial Engineers' (IIE) James W. Barany Student Award for Excellence - an award presented annually to one undergraduate student in North America for distinguished service to industrial engineering through excellence in scholarship and campus leadership. According to the Company, Croes received the award on June 2, 2014 at IIE's annual conference in Montreal, Canada. Eaton stated that Cross was hired to work as part of the Supply Chain Management team for the Company's Truck North America Operations. "I have already worked on several exciting projects for Eaton and look forward to many other innovative opportunities with the company," Croes said. On June 16, 2014, ABB Ltd. (ABB) released third-party verification that its Onboard DC Grid helps vessels in fuel and noise reduction and in trimming their environmental impact. According to the Company, the measurements and tests were conducted by Pon Power in collaboration with ABB on Myklebusthaug Offshore's platform supply vessel "Dina Star". According to the Company, the tests identified reduction of specific fuel oil consumption of up to 27%, fuel savings of 14% in dynamic positioning operations during challenging weather conditions, along with a 30% noise reduction that contributed to improved working conditions aboard the vessel.
