PITTSBURGH, Feb. 20, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Statistics show that, despite good intentions, parents and caregivers sometimes forget to get a child out of a car seat when leaving the vehicle, with tragic results. Fortunately, an inventor from Eubank, Ky., designed a safety innovation that reminds the driver of the child's presence as soon as the car is turned off.
She developed a prototype for the patent pending KHLOE'S CHILD ALERT to make a driver aware of the presence of a child, older person or pet in the car after it has been turned off. As such, it keeps back seat travelers from being left behind in a parked and locked motor vehicle. Thus, it prevents injuries and saves lives that could be lost because of exposure to extreme temperatures for an extended period of time. Therefore it affords peace of mind for concerned drivers. This reliable and practical safety system is also easy to build into new cars or retrofit for existing vehicles for an affordable price. In addition, its automatic operation makes it a convenient and effective safety feature.
The inventor's personal experience inspired the idea. "I have been concerned about the number of children that die from being left behind in cars in the hot weather," she said, "so when my first grandchild was born, I wanted to do something to help prevent this kind of tragedy."
