PITTSBURGH, June 25, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- "I'm a crane operator, and I wanted to create a wirelessly controlled release mechanism to allow a coiled-up tag line to be dropped once the crane has lifted the utility pole into a position that would not place the tag line near an energized line hazard," said an inventor, from Long Beach, Calif., "so I invented the TAG LINE BUDDY. My design would allow coiled tag lines to be deployed only as needed during a crane lift operation. The TAG LINE BUDDY can also be attached to any load from a power pole to a pallet, A/C unit, concrete bucket, wall panel, transformer, trusses, mechanical equipment, wood for building, stacks of plywood, etc."
The patent-pending invention provides a remotely controlled tag line release apparatus for use during utility pole crane lifts. In doing so, it allows for the safe installation of utility poles when near live power lines. It also helps prevent unmanned and uncontrolled tag lines from being draped, drawn, or wrapped around live power lines. As a result, it increases safety and convenience. The invention features a practical design that is easy to use so it is ideal for power pole companies, crane companies, the construction industry, and any company that utilizes cranes such as refineries. Additionally, it can also be used on any load to be hoisted by a crane. A prototype is available.
The original design was submitted to the Riverside sales office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
