PITTSBURGH, May 16, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- "I'm currently a physician and previously was employed as a phlebotomist, and I wanted to create an improved butterfly needle/winged infusion set," said an inventor, from Latham, N.Y., "so I invented the Z- LOK BUTTERFLY NEEDLE. My design allows for one-handed blood collection, and it could reduce the risk of occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens."
The invention provides an improved syringe/infusion set for collection of venous blood, arterial blood draws and the infusion of medication. In doing so, it offers a cost-effective, manual, one-handed solution to drawing blood. As a result, it reduces the incidence of inadvertent needle sticks, and it increases safety. The invention features a practical design that is easy to use so it is ideal for health care workers and medical facilities. Additionally, a prototype model is available upon request.
The original design was submitted to the National sales office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
