PITTSBURGH, April 30, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- There are a number of highway situations that require communication between drivers in different vehicles, such as a warning of danger, a call for help or a simple expression of courtesy. With this in mind, an inventor from Jacksonville, Fla., has found a way to help drivers effectively exchange messages in such instances.
He developed COURTESY BLINKER to enable drivers to communicate by visual messages to motorists in vehicles behind them. As such, it eliminates the need to use hand signals or shout to get the attention of another motorist. Thus, it helps prevent motor vehicle accidents. Besides improving roadway safety, it also promotes common courtesy among drivers. Furthermore, it has the potential to de-escalate a situation that could lead to road rage. In addition, it is convenient, practical and effective.
The inventor's personal concerns inspired the idea. "Automotive safety was my primary motivation for this system," he said, "since it could avert miscommunication among motorists, which often leads to anger, frustration and accidents."
