PITTSBURGH, June 22, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- An inventor from Warwick R.I. has developed an improved device used during a Cricothyrotomy. He was inspired to create this from his personal experience as an EMT. "As am EMT-P working in the field and closely with hospitals, I was inspired to create this device which would be time saving at a critical point. It would only require one hand, leaving the other hand to stabilize the patient."
This invention fulfills the need for a new type of disposable instrument for use in performing cricothyrotomies. The product would be easy to use, small, and simple. It could improve the level of speed and accuracy when performing this procedure. The simple visual airflow indicator of this product could provide a more easily noted and accurate means of ensuring the placement of its tip in the patient's trachea. Additionally, it is patent-pending and it could have the benefit of allowing for single hand use, permitting the other hand to be used to help stabilize the patient.
The inventor states why his idea is unique. "My idea is unique because there is no need for a syringe with the air chamber and indicator ring in its place."
The original design was submitted to the Boston sales office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
