CHICAGO, July 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Invenergy, North America's largest privately held renewable energy company, today announced a partnership with Facebook and Pacific Power, a division of PacifiCorp, to help support the social media giant's data center in Prineville, Oregon with renewable energy. Invenergy will supply 100 megawatts of energy from two separate projects located in Crook County, Oregon, near Facebook's Prineville Data Center.
Solar power generated from Invenergy's Prineville Solar (55 megawatts) and Millican Solar (45 megawatts) support a larger arrangement through Pacific Power to match 100% of Facebook's electric use at its data center in Prineville with renewable energy. The collaboration between Invenergy, Pacific Power and Facebook was announced on Wednesday at a press conference in Prineville, with the city's mayor and the governor of Oregon in attendance.
"We are excited that through this partnership with Pacific Power, Invenergy's solar farms will be helping power economic growth in Prineville, Oregon as well as Facebook's sustainability goals," said Invenergy's Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer Jim Shield. "This partnership reflects Invenergy's commitment to local economic investment and sustainability that carries across our work with both utilities and corporate renewable energy purchasers."
"Invenergy's two new solar projects were a great fit to power our Prineville Data Center and also help us further contribute to the city's prosperity," said Peter Freed, Facebook Energy Strategy Manager. "Prineville was our first data center and we are thrilled to be adding it to our list of hyper-efficient facilities supported by 100% renewable energy."
"Pacific Power has a long-standing commitment to serving smaller communities across the state of Oregon," said Scott Bolton, Senior Vice President at Pacific Power. "Invenergy's Prineville and Millican projects help us maintain that commitment to our communities in the state while helping Facebook achieve its sustainability goals."
Since 2015, Invenergy has partnered with 12 corporate customers to develop over 1,540 megawatts of new renewable energy capacity. So far in 2018, Invenergy has signed more than 745 megawatts of clean energy power purchase agreements to support leading companies across the globe, including previously announced partnerships with MGM, Grupo Bimbo and Merck. As a privately held, full-service energy solutions provider, Invenergy has the unique ability to be innovative and flexible when working with corporate customers to solve complex energy challenges.
Both the Prineville Solar facility and the Millican Solar facility are expected to be online in late 2020 and will create approximately 100 jobs at each site during construction.
