Intersolar 2012: Trina Solar Presents Honey Ultra World Record Technology and Trinasmart Performance Optimizer
MUNICH, June 13, 2012 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Trina Solar Limited (NYSE: TSL), a leading integrated manufacturer of solar photovoltaic (PV) products from the production of ingots, wafers and cells to the assembly of PV modules, is presenting at this year's Intersolar Europe trade fair its new Honey Ultra world record technology as well as Trinasmart, a module-integrated solution that optimizes the energy output of PV systems. Moreover Trina Solar shows new services for the innovative Trinamount mounting system. Installers receive information about the new Partner Plus program and can sign up at the booth. Trina Solar is in hall A1 booth no. 280.
Maximum module efficiency: Honey Ultra – the world record technology's second generation
Honey Ultra, the second generation of Trina Solar's Honey technology, to the company's best knowledge, has achieved a new world record for multicrystalline modules. The standard-size Honey Ultra module (1650x992mm) reached 284.7 watts peak power output in May 2012, which has been confirmed by TUV Rheinland.
Increased efficiency is achieved by the typical Honey cell texturing as well as thinner bus bars and fingers, both maximizing the active surface. Reduced cell reflection increases light absorption. Additionally, a highly reflective back foil is used. Honey Ultra has superior performance under low light conditions and at high temperatures. Trina Solar issues a 10-year product warranty and a 25-year linear performance warranty. Honey Ultra is expected to be commercially available in early 2013.
The first generation Honey modules, PC05A and PC14A, are now featuring upgraded power classes. The universal 60-cell PC05A module reaches up to 265 watts peak while the large-scale 72-cell PC14A module features 310 watts peak.
New solutions: Trinasmart power optimizer and online services for Trinamount
Trina Solar reduces balance of system costs not only with highly efficient PV modules, but also by providing innovative solutions. The company shows Trinasmart, a new power optimizer and monitoring solution, for the first time at Intersolar. The intelligent Trinasmart technology comes integrated into the module junction box (PC05A.20 Honey). Trinasmart needs no additional module wiring, will work with any inverter and allows monitoring and control of the PV array at module level. System output in case of shading and differing module performance within one string is improved by up to 20%. System performance can be monitored and controlled in real time thanks to a web-based Trinasmart platform. With a smart phone or an Internet PC, users have access to all data. Additionally, Trinasmart improves the safety of PV systems: In case of electrical failure (e.g. flashing arc), Trinasmart shuts down the affected modules automatically. Moreover, in case of an external fire the modules can be cut off via remote control. Commercial availability of Trinasmart is scheduled for September 2012.
Trinamount, the innovative mounting system, now features an online design tool in German and English for Trinamount I and II (www.trinamount-design.com). With this tool, a Trinamount-based PV system can be planned and visualized quickly and easily. The online design tool will calculate automatically which Trinamount components are necessary for installation.
Trina Solar offers a special design service for Trinamount III via Internet (www.trinasolar.com/trinamount/us/Trinamount_III.html#design). Customers who are planning to use Trinamount III record their data and send them to Trina Solar together with site photos. Subsequently they will receive an individual planning solution with all specifications.
