International Trade Expert John Pisa-Relli Joins Fried Frank, Expanding Firm's International Trade and Investment Practice
WASHINGTON, April 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP announced today that John Pisa-Relli has joined the Firm's International Trade and Investment and Aerospace & Defense practices, resident in the Washington, DC office. Mr. Pisa-Relli comes to the Firm after serving most recently as the principal in-house legal adviser for compliance with US trade controls and national industrial security program (NISP) requirements for one of the world's leading aerospace and defense companies, headquartered in Europe. He also brings extensive government experience, having previously served as a case officer with the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the State Department's Office of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC), and the Commerce Department's Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS).
In his former role, Mr. Pisa-Relli advised the company's export licensing and compliance program and personnel in the US; formulated export compliance policies, procedures and training curricula; conducted internal investigations and compliance assessments and oversaw internal and external audits. During his time in government, he handled a wide range of trade control licensing, compliance and enforcement matters, including compliance audits and civil enforcement cases. At the Firm, Mr. Pisa-Relli will assist US and international clients on international trade and anticorruption matters, particularly with respect to transaction support, compliance counseling, internal audits and investigations, civil enforcement actions, and voluntary disclosures.

Mr. Pisa-Relli currently serves as a Vice-Chair of the Export Controls and Economic Sanctions Committee of the American Bar Association's Section of International Law. He received his JD from Widener University Law School in 1991, and his BA from La Salle University in 1988. He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and the US Court of International Trade.
