Election kicks off 2-day global conference
TORONTO, June 19, 2013 /CNW/ - Members of the International Forum for Investor Education (IFIE) today re-elected Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC) President and CEO, Susan Wolburgh Jenah, as its chair at its annual international meeting in Toronto. In addition, IFIE elected Paul Andrews, Vice President and Managing Director of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority's (FINRA's) International Affairs Department, as vice chair and Toshihiko Sasaki, Executive Director of the Japan Securities Dealers Association (JSDA), as treasurer/secretary.
Members from the alliance of 28 organizations of regulators, industry associations and other interested stakeholders from 15 countries elected the three IFIE officers the day before the opening of the 2013 IFIE-IOSCO Global Investor Education Conference. The theme for this year's conference is promoting investor education and financial literacy across life stages - children and youth, working years and retirement.
Approximately 160 regulators, investor education practitioners, industry leaders, government agencies and other stakeholders from around the world will participate in interactive discussions, and showcase examples of innovative and practical programs in investor education and financial literacy at the two-day event that takes place June 20 - 21 at the downtown Toronto Hilton Hotel.

About IFIE Officers:
Susan Wolburgh Jenah is President and CEO of IIROC, a position she has held since 2008. Previously, she served as President and CEO of the Investment Dealers Association of Canada (IDA). From 2004-2007 she was Vice Chair of the Ontario Securities Commission. Prior to her appointment as Vice Chair, she served as General Counsel and Director of International Affairs, representing the Commission at international fora and on various IOSCO committees.
Paul Andrews is Vice President and Managing Director of FINRA's International Affairs Department. In this capacity, he directs all international engagements and has led FINRA's efforts to establish strong working relationships to harmonize and improve regulation with key regulators and regulatory bodies outside of the U.S. including the Financial Services Authority in the UK, among others. He also leads FINRA's efforts at IOSCO and COSRA - the Council of Securities Regulators of the Americas. He heads the Ahead of the Curve Working Group as part of IOSCO's Self-Regulatory Organizations Consultative Committee.
Toshihiko Sasaki is Executive Director of the Japan Securities Dealers Association (JSDA), leading Financial & Securities Education Support Headquarters within the JSDA. He joined the JSDA as Executive Advisor in 2008 and assumed his current position in July 2011.
