LOS ANGELES, March 29, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Film commission representatives from across the globe will gather in Los Angeles April 2-5 for the 2nd Annual AFCI Week – a series of events to connect members of the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) with the content creators, financiers, production executives and other industry professionals involved in making location decisions and determining where production budgets are spent.
AFCI Week 2019 includes seven distinct events spread over four days:
- AFCI Semi-Annual Membership Meeting (April 2 at Entertainment Partners)
- AFCI Week Industry Networking Reception (April 2 at Entertainment Partners)
- Business-to-Business Industry Day (April 3 at Universal Studios)
Executives from major content creators including Amblin Partners, di Bonaventura Pictures, Arclight Films, Facebook, Tencent and YouTube will discuss their experiences working around the globe, strategies and upcoming location needs. - Physical Production Power Brunch (April 4 at The London Hotel)
AFCI and co-host The Hollywood Reporter will honor the entertainment industry's top physical production executives. This event includes a panel discussion moderated by THR Editorial Director Matthew Belloni and featuring Victoria Alonso (Marvel Studios), Patricia Whitcher (Netflix), Debra Bergman (Paramount TV), Shelly Strong (Amblin Partners) and Kevin Berg (CBS Television Studios). - Taste of the World Locations Show (April 4 at The London Hotel)
Open to all industry professionals, this event provides attendees an opportunity to meet film commission representatives and get up-to-speed on the latest incentives, locations, facilities, infrastructure, crew depth and other vital topics. More than 70 film commissions from six continents will be represented. - AFCI Education Day (April 5 at the Andaz Hotel)
This full day of sessions will cover topics ranging from cross-border collaboration and sustainable production to short-form content and working with news media. Confirmed speakers represent Sundance Institute, Retrofit Films, Funny or Die, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Entertainment Partners and more. - AFCI Week Wrap Event (April 5)
AFCI Week was launched in 2018 as an evolution of the annual AFCI Locations Show that was held each Spring for more than 20 years to showcase the organization's global film commission members. AFCI Week retains some of the prior event's exhibition component via the Taste of the World Locations Show on April 4th, which is open to all industry professionals (the other six AFCI Week events are exclusively for AFCI members and invited guests).
"AFCI Week is focused on delivering maximum value to both our members and the production industry through a series of carefully curated events," said AFCI President Jess Conoplia. "Our goal is to bring together decision makers to facilitate production and post-production projects, and in turn create industry growth, economic development and job creation across the globe."
AFCI Week sponsors and co-hosts include Entertainment Partners, Air New Zealand, The Hollywood Reporter, Behind the Scenes Worldwide Logistics, Production Service Network, NBC Universal and the United States Virgin Islands Film Office.
