International Family Planning Specialist Joins Abt Associates

BETHESDA, Md., July 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Abt Associates has named May Post the Family Planning/Reproductive Health Strategic Lead within the company's International Health Division.

"May has over 35 years of experience in the family planning/reproductive health and maternal and child health fields," said Diana R. Silimperi, MD, Vice President of Abt's International Health Division. "We look forward to expanding our work in helping countries increase access to high-quality family planning information and services under her leadership."

Before coming to Abt, Post worked at Pathfinder International as the Senior Reproductive Health and Family Planning Advisor and technical lead for the Extending Service Delivery Project, USAID's flagship family planning project. In that capacity, she conceptualized, developed and led the implementation and global roll-out of the USAID-supported Healthy Timing and Spacing of Pregnancy (HTSP) Initiative. From virtually no HTSP activities anywhere, HTSP activities are currently being implemented in more than 25 countries globally. She has served as a senior technical advisor, program manager, evaluator and consultant for USAID, UNICEF, World Bank, DFID and various universities and ministries of health. She has hands-on experience in various countries in Africa and Asia, working in key technical, programmatic, managerial and clinical roles. 

Post is a Myanmar-born US-licensed public health physician. She holds a Diploma in Preventive and Tropical Medicine from the School of Preventive and Tropical Medicine in Myanmar and an MD in Medicine and Surgery from Institute of Medicine in Myanmar.
