International CTIA WIRELESS 2011® Continues With a Focus on Spectrum and Mobile Broadband

Spectrum and 4G, two themes established during the show's opening keynotes, continued to dominate, as wireless industry innovators took the stage to share their insights. Yang Jie, executive vice president for China Telecom, provided a global perspective on the mobile industry from the world's fastest-growing market. Sanjiv Ahuja, chairman and CEO of LightSquared, highlighted the massive growth of mobile data traffic and the power of 4G technology. He also shared a new partnership between LightSquared and Best Buy to deliver a 4G mobile service.
Hans Vestberg, president and CEO of Ericsson discussed mobile's unique role in shaping the "Networked Society." Expanding on the transformative power of wireless, Patrick Soon-Shiong, M.D., chairman and CEO at the Institute for Advanced Health, demonstrated how wireless is reengineering the healthcare industry.

Emerging Technology Awards
In a ceremony taking place on the Exhibit Innovations Stage, CNBC technology reporter Jon Forrt announced the winners of the sixth annual Emerging Technology Awards (E-Techs) in the areas of mobile applications, mobile consumer electronics, enterprise and vertical markets and network infrastructure. In addition to the 14 awards categories, industry peers voted for their favorite entries online and onsite via text during the show.
