International Arbitration Lawyer Wendy Miles to Join Boies, Schiller & Flexner in London
LONDON, Sept. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Boies, Schiller & Flexner has hired international arbitration lawyer Wendy Miles to head its international arbitration team, bringing further momentum to an international strategy built around its newly formed office in London.
Ms. Miles is a leading international dispute resolution and public international lawyer. She acts for numerous corporate and state parties in international arbitration disputes in multiple jurisdictions.
"Wendy Miles is an exceptional lawyer and will be leading our global international arbitration team. I look forward to working with Wendy to continue to enhance our existing international arbitration practice," said Boies, Schiller & Flexner Managing Partner Jonathan Schiller. "She is the second outstanding English law partner to join our new office in London, following the hiring of Natasha Harrison as London Managing Partner last year. This expansion enables us to continue to address our clients' most critical issues around the world, particularly in international arbitration and financial services litigation, where demands are increasing each year."
Ms. Miles joins Boies, Schiller & Flexner after a 15-year career at WilmerHale in London. "I am particularly excited to be moving to a specialized litigation and arbitration powerhouse, joining a group of extraordinarily talented advocates," said Ms. Miles. "This is a unique opportunity to build a premier global arbitration practice from an extraordinarily strong Firm-wide platform."
Ms. Miles has been involved in hundreds of international arbitration proceedings administered by the ICC, LCIA, IDRC, ICSID and the PCA. She is a member of the ICC's Court of Arbitration and Deputy Chair of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Board of Trustees. Her recent work includes co-leading in a major ICC arbitration involving some of the world's largest manufacturers in a complex, multibillion dollar dispute. She was lead co-counsel for South Sudan in a major boundary proceeding known as the Abyei Arbitration, conducted at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague. South Sudan prevailed on most of its claims. Ms. Miles regularly sits as an arbitrator in international commercial disputes.
"Wendy Miles joins our talented global partnership and is an integral hire to Boies, Schiller's London office and our international strategy," said Ms. Harrison, the Managing Partner of the Firm's London office. "We are hand-picking the best-in-class senior litigation and arbitration lawyers in our core areas of expertise as we continue to build a leading international dispute resolution team in London. Wendy is a talented lawyer who has repeatedly been recognized as a leading individual in the international arbitration and public international law fields and will add further depth and experience to the Firm and our London office."
Ms. Harrison joined Boies, Schiller & Flexner last year to spearhead its London office, part of a strategy to serve clients facing increasingly international disputes. Boies, Schiller & Flexner is one of the premier law firms in the United States, regularly serving as lead counsel in the biggest, highest-profile disputes, representing some of the world's largest and most sophisticated organizations when the results matter most.
