ATLANTA, Feb. 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Internap Network Services Corporation (NASDAQ: INAP), a provider of intelligent IT Infrastructure services, today announced that Scholastic Education, a division of Scholastic the global children's publishing, education and media company, is using Internap's Dedicated Private Cloud solution with its route-optimized Performance IP™ network to provide high availability access to its web-based educational programs for K-12 schools nationwide.
Scholastic Education's suite of technology-based reading and math programs are transitioning to online delivery so students and teachers are able to access their programs both in school and at home. Previously, Scholastic offered these services in a traditional software license model with its customers responsible for the deployment and maintenance of the underlying physical infrastructure. In 2011, Scholastic selected Internap to deploy a highly scalable private cloud platform to support a next-generation Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) delivery model for Scholastic's core instructional and assessment programs. This transition enabled Scholastic to provide a higher value-add solution for its customers, including data management tools for teachers that help them with student grouping and differentiated instruction. Since the initial implementation last year, Scholastic has continued to grow its private cloud infrastructure with Internap and recently added capabilities to support disaster recovery.
"Internap worked with us on the front end to develop a tailored solution that met our unique requirements and continues to provide outstanding service, including a dedicated, single point of contact and 24/7 support from knowledgeable engineers," said D. Midian Kurland, senior vice president, Scholastic Education. "Internap optimized its solutions around our customers' needs, not their own operational needs, so we can continue providing the highest standard of customer service that schools and districts expect from Scholastic."
Based on VMware's vSphere® platform, Internap's Dedicated Private Cloud solution leverages its global Performance IP network, which provides the highest levels of network availability and performance, ensuring seamless access and an ideal website experience for Scholastic's customers. Deployed by thousands of companies around the world and backed by a 100% proactive uptime service level agreement, Internap's Performance IP combines the ability to deliver traffic across numerous carrier networks globally with patented Managed Internet Route Optimizer™ (MIRO) technology.
"We are increasingly seeing software and application providers like Scholastic turning to Internap to support their transition from on-premise to cloud-based software delivery models," said John Freimuth, Internap's vice president of managed hosting and cloud services. "Internap's customized enterprise cloud and managed hosting services, backed by performance-optimized connectivity and best-in-class service, provide the foundation on which our customers can offer the turn-key business solutions that their end users increasingly require."
