By enhancing Fort Benning's existing incident management system with the latest Intergraph public safety and security software, response personnel and incident commanders will have access to an integrated decision-support system that will facilitate sharing of real-time incident information. The integrated decision-support system will empower first responders and incident commanders to detect, assess and respond to a variety of threats and incidents.
An Intergraph customer for more than fifteen years, Fort Benning will enhance their existing Intergraph incident management system as part of the United States Department of Defense Installation Emergency Management (IEM) program, which specifies parameters for increasing security and incident response at all U.S. military bases worldwide. In addition, the new system will also ensure Fort Benning's compliance with the National Incident Management System (NIMS), a Department of Homeland Security directive for improving prevention, preparedness, response recovery and mitigation capabilities and coordination processes across the country.
Upon deployment of the Intergraph technologies, the system will incorporate first response, force protection and incident command capabilities into a single geospatial common operating picture to promote strategic decision-making. Additionally, it will enable the commander to direct response, analyze existing anti-terrorism and force protection missions, and perform required reporting to demonstrate compliance with IEM and NIMS. The system, which will extend across the border between Georgia and Alabama, provides interoperability and multi-jurisdictional capabilities among local and state response agencies for effective and efficient incident management and response.
"Each day, more than 107,000 people live and work at Fort Benning, a number that will increase by at least 35,000 in the coming months due to Base Realignment and Closure initiatives," said Bob Brown, director, Plans, Training Mobilization & Security. "By deploying the latest Intergraph software and professional services expertise, and through the addition of dispatchers and mobile data terminals in police and fire vehicles, Fort Benning's emergency responders and incident commanders are well-positioned to prevent, mitigate and respond to a variety of threats to promote the safety and security for all who live and work on base."
"Intergraph Government Solutions proudly supports eleven United States Army bases with its integrated public safety and security software and we are honored to continue our long-standing relationship with Fort Benning," said Brig. Gen. Jack Pellicci, U.S. Army (Ret.), President and CEO, Intergraph Government Solutions. "By increasing their decision-support capabilities through a common operating picture delivered through Intergraph software, Fort Benning's security and response personnel are empowered to overcome the challenges associated with today's anti-terrorism and force protection missions."
