The annual award, presented by WR-ALC, honors an engineering team "whose contributions have achieved significant cost savings due to new or enhanced processes, increased mission capabilities, or substantially increased performance life cycles." The team was honored for their use of MSG-3, the Air Transport Association's rigorous, structured process that identifies optimal scheduled inspection tasks and intervals for aircraft maintenance. As winner of this award, the team is now eligible to be considered for the United States Air Force Outstanding Engineer awards.
In using the MSG-3 process, the team successfully developed and implemented a new scheduled maintenance program for the C-5 Galaxy jumbo cargo aircraft. The C-5's MSG-3 maintenance program has significantly boosted aircraft reliability and availability for critical missions around the world.
"As one of the world's largest airplanes, the C-5 Galaxy plays a vital role in providing airlift of heavy, out-sized cargo for a wide range of United States Air Force missions," said Tom Young, vice president, Federal Solutions, Intergraph Government Solutions. "The MSG-3 team is highly deserving of this unique honor, as shown by the increase in aircraft safety and availability, the fulfillment of mission requirements and the significant cost savings passed on to U.S. taxpayers."
"Intergraph has proudly supported the United States government for more than forty years. It is a special honor for IGS to be part of the team recognized by WR-ALC for its work with the C5 Galaxy," said Brig. Gen. Jack Pellicci, U.S. Army (Ret.), president and CEO, Intergraph Government Solutions. "The MSG-3 team at Warner Robins, comprised of U.S. government and IGS personnel, successfully implemented a program that, in its first year, delivered a twenty percent reliability improvement and reduced the number of aircraft tied up in scheduled and unscheduled maintenance per day by seven. As the program progresses, it will ensure more resources and equipment are safe and available on demand to support the missions of our United States military."
The U.S. government team members recognized with the General Bernard P. Randolph Engineering Team award consisted of Chris Carlton, Dan Carter, Dodd Hamlin, Kevin Reid and Scott Wrigley. The IGS team members included Gilchrist Bailey, Jim Barnett, Antoinette Booker, Robert Clements, Debbie Deckert, Jack Fish, Sheila Heath, Gary Hettermann, Ken Lawson, Jose Medellin, Bennie Montgomery, Jodie Prince, Tim Richardson, Charley Rogers, Mike Rutland, Mario Sanchez, Lesia Tillery, Stephen Turner, Isaiah Whittaker and Glenn Wright.
