TORRANCE, Calif., Sept. 18, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Intellisense Systems, Inc. (ISI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Physical Optics Corporation's (POC), announces today, September 18, that it was awarded a multi-million dollar contract by the U.S. Air Force for production of the Micro Weather Sensor (MWS). The MWS is a remote, unattended, fully operational weather sensor originally developed for the U.S. Special Operations Command utilizing Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) funding. After demonstrating its utility in the field in some of the most remote regions of the world, the U.S. Air Force recognized numerous uses for the MWS technology across its major commands.
The United States Navy and Geographic Combatant Commands also saw the benefits of deploying the MWS™ and procured the system through the Air Force's Battlefield Airmen contracting office at Wright Patterson AFB, OH.
In preparation for the Air Force contract effort, ISI enhanced the size of its production team and in-house manufacturing facilities. The company plans to fulfill this current contract over the next four to six months and will continue to prepare for subsequent orders.
"The MWS™ provides a capability that is so desperately needed by its users. We developed this system to become the perfect fit for the Department of Defense and other organizations with weather sensing requirements," said Ben Self, ISI's Business Development Director.
Enhancements of the MWS system continues as end-users continually identify new capability requirements to ISI's engineers.
"The agility and speed at which ISI is able to develop and field new technologies is what makes this company a valued asset to our customers," said Frank Willis, ISI President/COO. "As a small business providing high value to our customers, we focus on the customer and what our technology can do to enhance their ability to do their job more effectively."
