The background checks are integrated with the Reptrax vendor credentialing service, making it easier for health care organizations to ensure vendors and service representatives meet their security requirements.

Hospitals can customize the screenings to meet their needs. There are four role-specific background checks — General Access, Pharmaceutical, Administration and Patient Care Areas — and each check is based on criteria that are relevant to that service. For example, an individual visiting the Administration area of a hospital would be checked for an embezzlement criminal history, while an individual visiting a Patient Care Area would not.

In addition, Reptrax Background Checks provide vendors and service representatives with a convenient and affordable way to get the background screening they need to meet hospital security requirements. The information is automatically uploaded, to streamline the credentialing process.

Unlike services that offer "instant" criminal background checks, Reptrax Background Checks do not rely solely on nationwide database information. Instead, a researcher will go directly to the information source, such as a courthouse, to confirm a criminal record is accurate. This isn't just a "best practice," it is a requirement of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and is a step often overlooked by many background screening vendors.
