The U.S. equity market rallied on Thursday, July 11, 2013, as market participants took note of Federal Reserve Chairman, Ben Bernanke's comment to support the U.S economic growth with easy monetary policy. Bernanke stated that the Fed plans to continue with its accommodative monetary policy for the foreseeable future even if the U.S unemployment rate hit the central bank's target of 6.50%. Bernanke's comment came after the minutes from the recent FOMC meet indicated that many Fed officials wants the outlook for the labor market to improve further, before scaling back the Fed's bond purchase program. The dovish comments from Bernanke pushed all three benchmark indexes sharply higher on Thursday, with the Dow Jones and the S&P 500 closing at record highs. The technology sector was one of the best performers in the S&P 500. The major movers in the sector included Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC), Cadence Design Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: CDNS), InvenSense Inc. (NYSE: INVN), and Entropic Communications Inc. (NASDAQ: ENTR).
