NEW YORK, Feb. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Integrated Medical Processes (IMP), an affiliate of The Kinetix Group (TKG) focused on value-based delivery models, today announced results from the groundbreaking Quality Blue Primary Care (QBPC) program, an initiative of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana. During just the first nine months of 2015, participating Louisiana physicians saw a 25 percent improvement in diabetes care, 31 percent in hypertension care, 40 percent in vascular disease care and 69 percent in kidney disease care. To date, the program reduced inpatient admissions and cut total costs by $25 per member per month.
"The results from Quality Blue are proof that insurance providers, health systems and care delivery experts can work together to improve treatment while controlling cost," said Kinetix Group Co-Founder and Chairman John Strapp. "This program has made a difference in the lives of thousands of patients in Louisiana and set an example for other states to follow."
Launched in 2013, QBPC transforms care delivery by better managing patients with chronic conditions. Through a population health software program, the practice can risk stratify patients and identify any gaps in care. Using the software as a foundation, IMP operationalized the program by providing the framework and implementation strategies to enable care transformation and clinical performance improvement. As an added incentive, the program rewards physicians for meeting quality measures that help keep patients healthy.
The program's results, analyzed by Tulane University's School of Public Health, demonstrate that in addition to the cost reductions and improvement in quality measures, participating patients saw their primary care doctors for checkups more often and received necessary screenings and tests at higher rates than other patients.
