Integrated Electrical Services Receives Two Elite Safety Awards
HOUSTON, Nov. 9, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Integrated Electrical Services, a leading national provider of electrical and communications services (Nasdaq: IESC) (www.ies-co.com) announced today that it has added two prestigious awards to its ongoing safety record. IES has been awarded the Category 5 2010 IEC/CNA Safety Award from the Independent Electrical Contractors, Inc. (IEC National) (www.ieci.org) and the highest-level Platinum S.T.E.P. award from the Associated Builders and Contractors (www.abc.org).
Presented since 2006, The IEC-CNA Safety Award is an elite industry designation that recognizes and awards companies that excel beyond traditional programs. In addition to mandatory experience modification and OSHA recordable rates below industry average, recipients must demonstrate management commitment, safety committee participation, cause investigation and work site auditing and recognition of safe actions.
"We are pleased to recognize the commitment IES has made to safety in the industry," said John Masarick, Director of Workforce Development, Codes and Safety for Independent Electrical Contractors, Inc. "Companies with a thorough commitment to the health and safety of electrical workers and to the well-being of its customers effectively promote and endorse our industry."
IES has also been awarded the coveted highest safety level Platinum S.T.E.P. designation from ABC. Established in 1989, the Safety Training and Evaluation Process (S.T.E.P.) program is an organized approach for analyzing and developing safety and loss prevention programs. The program was developed and written by contractors for contractors and incorporates both OSHA required safety data and self-assessment requirements to give a full, wide ranging report on the entire nature of a company's safety program.
"The S.T.E.P. program is an objective and comprehensive way for companies to prove their commitment to safety," said Carol Wiatrek, Programs Coordinator for Associated Builders & Contractors, Inc. "We are excited to have IES once again achieve S.T.E.P. Platinum status by displaying the highest levels of safety performance and long-term commitment to jobsite safety."
"Safety is one of the cornerstones of our culture," said Michael Caliel, IES president and chief executive officer. "Every project and every jobsite begins and ends with safe execution, and these two awards add to the more than 40 major safety awards and commendations we've received since our inception and, more importantly, to our continuing legacy of being among the safest electrical and communications contractors in the country. We are honored to be recognized by these two leading organizations."
