Integral Consulting Inc. Appoints New Vice President
ANNAPOLIS, Md., Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Science and engineering company Integral Consulting Inc. is pleased to announce that Dr. Russell Keenan has joined its firm as a Principal and Vice President. A national expert in environmental risk assessment and toxicology, Dr. Keenan is known for his skills in risk assessment of PCBs, dioxins, furans, chromium, and mercury and for the development of time-dependent probabilistic risk assessment methods. In addition, he has extensive environmental litigation experience, which includes testifying before U.S. Congressional panels and state and federal agencies during regulatory proceedings on environmental issues.
"Russ has the leadership, skills, and reputation for scientific excellence that offer our clients yet another reason to choose Integral Consulting for their problem-solving and litigation support needs," said Integral President Dr. Lucinda Jacobs. "In addition to supporting Integral's existing clients, he will be working closely with our ecologists and toxicologists to expand on our work and build new client relationships."
During his 25 years of experience, Dr. Keenan has evaluated human health and ecological risks associated with numerous contaminated aquatic environments -- from the Hudson River in New York to the Columbia River in the Pacific Northwest. He has conducted more than 100 human health and wildlife risk assessments for CERCLA and RCRA sites and has evaluated the risks associated with exposure to conventional and radioactive residuals from former mining operations.
Among other accomplishments, Dr. Keenan's work has led to the establishment of EPA-approved alternative ambient water quality criteria in nine states. He also managed the first private sector Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with EPA in the field of regulatory toxicology and risk assessment -- providing the framework for research to develop Monte Carlo-based models used in noncancer risk assessment.
Dr. Keenan has authored more than 90 publications in his field. He is an active member in the Society of Toxicology, receiving two best paper awards, and in the Society for Risk Analysis, the National Council for Air & Stream Improvement, and the Maine Pulp and Paper Association. He earned a Ph.D. in environmental biology from Duke University and a B.S. in biology from Bates College.
