Intact Insurance mobilizes its resources from across the country to help Albertans restore their lives

CALGARY, June 24, 2013 /CNW/ - Intact Insurance, Canada's largest home, auto and business insurance company, has mobilized its community response team to help provide assistance and support for customers who have been affected by severe hail and rain storms as well as flooding in Calgary and surrounding southern Alberta communities.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss experienced by Albertans as a result of the recent torrential rains," said Jennie Moushos, Senior Vice President of Intact Insurance's Western Division. "Our thoughts are with our customers, employees and brokers who have been directly impacted by this tragedy. We commend the emergency service teams for their ongoing efforts and have witnessed the strength and resilience of Albertans at this trying time."

Intact Insurance's telephone adjusters have been speaking to customers to begin the claims process. To further assist customers at this difficult time, Intact Insurance has dispatched adjusters from across the country to the more than 14 communities within Alberta that were impacted by the storm. It is also providing assistance to its customers for emergency work as quickly as possible, on a priority basis.

Intact Insurance's dedicated team of adjusters, brokers, contractors, vendors and engineers will help customers determine the damage and begin the restoration process. "We recognize the disruption that Alberta communities are facing and our more than 1,600 employees are working hard to provide attentive care and support and to help our customers get back on track," continued Moushos.

As our adjusters have not gained access to all affected communities at this time and the number of claims continues to evolve, it will be difficult to fully assess and quantify the damage for a number of weeks. Intact Financial Corporation's reinsurance coverage starts once damage reaches $100 million (pre-tax). Beyond this amount, IFC's retention declines from 12% in a stepped manner.
