Insurance Transactional and Regulatory Attorney Joins Chadbourne & Parke
Addition of Daniel Rabinowitz Enhances Firm's Strength within Insurance Industry
NEW YORK, March 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The international law firm Chadbourne & Parke LLP today announced that Daniel Rabinowitz has joined the firm as a partner in the corporate and insurance practice groups, resident in New York.
Mr. Rabinowitz, 42, who was most recently special counsel at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, concentrates his practice on transactional and regulatory work in the insurance and reinsurance industry.
He has represented clients on a wide range of corporate matters in this sector, advising on acquisitions and divestitures, securities offerings, strategic investments, other financing transactions, reinsurance transactions, and corporate reorganizations and restructurings. Mr. Rabinowitz routinely appears before, and works closely with, regulators in Insurance Holding Company Act proceedings, such as Form A applications, and in other transactional contexts.
In addition, he has had extensive experience in some of the industry's most visible demutualizations and other legal reorganizations. Mr. Rabinowitz also advises clients on a variety of insurance regulatory issues in transactional contexts, such as capital requirements, investment limitations, required reserves and issues relating to credit derivatives, credit enhancement, mortality and longevity products, corporate governance and development of financial products.
More recently, Mr. Rabinowitz has been very active in matters arising out of the 2008 financial crisis, representing clients in a number of innovative government-sponsored investments and on receivership and distressed company issues.
"We are excited to welcome Dan to our team as we further solidify our reputation as a leader in all facets of insurance and reinsurance law," said Chadbourne partner David Raim, co-chair of the firm's Insurance and Reinsurance practice. "Dan is an excellent addition to an already strong group of insurance corporate and regulatory lawyers at the firm in both the U.S. and abroad."
Mr. Rabinowitz is a regular author and speaker on insurance transactional and regulatory topics. In 2010, at the invitation of the New York State Insurance Department, he served on a joint regulator-industry working group to study reforms to transactional filings as part of the Department's Modernization Initiative. He has been a member of the New York City Bar Association's Committee on Insurance Law since 2006 and, since 2008, has served as committee secretary. Mr. Rabinowitz is also active on interested party working groups at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.
"Dan is a highly-respected and seasoned attorney and we are proud to welcome him to the firm," said Allen Miller, chair of Chadbourne's corporate department.
"By adding Dan to our roster of highly-regarded practitioners we are enhancing the expertise and quality service we already provide our insurance clients," added Chadbourne Managing Partner Andrew A. Giaccia.
Mr. Rabinowitz received his A.B., magna cum laude, in 1991 from Brandeis University. He earned his J.D. at The University of Chicago Law School in 1994.
