Arc Offers Next Generation Active Video Learning
SALT LAKE CITY, Dec. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Instructure (NYSE: INST), a leading software-as-a-service (SaaS) company and creator of the Bridge and Canvas learning management systems (LMS), today announced the beta launch of Arc, the next generation video platform for interactive learning and intuitive collaboration.
The video platform streamlines management of video assets for organizations expanding their education resources. Arc also empowers learners to collaborate with each other and to interact with content by allowing them to share, comment and give feedback within the video timeline.
"We're excited to announce our beta launch of Arc, which was a natural addition to the Instructure suite of products," said Giorgio Vanzini, senior vice president of product at Instructure. "As one of the first and only platforms to combine both delivery and interactivity into video content, Arc surpasses the often passive experience of video learning and creates an active and collaborative learning experience."
In the current video platform landscape, most online video and interactive video solutions are offered separately. This divide in platform capability creates an opportunity for Arc to provide a combined, more comprehensive solution. Arc offers a centralized location to manage and deliver assets, measure how learners are consuming content and make content more effective through an interactive interface.
"Arc has been an incredible teaching tool that has allowed us as faculty to develop innovative and engaging assignments that have helped our students immensely in their learning experiences," said Cate Campisi, specialty co-director at the University of Colorado College of Nursing. "The technology is easy to use, well received by students, and allows for a variety of different uses. We have utilized the video sharing and commentary to allow students to reflect on their own performance working with patients in healthcare settings. The features of this platform allow students to more deeply synthesize the content and be more engaged in our class assignments. The feedback from students has been overwhelmingly positive."
Instructure anticipates the public release of Arc in 2016. Available currently in beta for Instructure's Canvas customers, the Arc video platform is expected to be open to enable integrations with Bridge and other interested third-party technologies in the future.
