"Hot Dudes Reading for a Cause" to Provide New Books to Kids in Need

WASHINGTON, March 2, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- First Book and Instagram account, @hotdudesreading, today announced a new charitable effort to share the joy of reading with kids from low-income families. The campaign, "Hot Dudes Reading for a Cause," will run through March 11 with the goal of raising $50,000 for First Book, a nonprofit social enterprise that provides new books and educational resources to kids in need.

"Millions of kids in the United States never get the chance to fall in love with reading, because they grow up without books of their own," said Chandler Arnold, chief operating officer at First Book. "To date First Book has distributed more than 125 million new books to kids in need, but there are still so many children waiting for our help. We are thrilled to partner with Hot Dudes Reading to launch 'Hot Dudes Reading for a Cause' and get more new books to the children needing them most."

Hot Dudes Reading, an Instagram account that launched in early February featuring photos of attractive men reading in New York City subways, has quickly gained over 400k Instagram followers.

First Book and Hot Dudes Reading are inviting the public to submit photos of their hometown men with their heads in a book, using the hashtag #hotdudesreadingforacause while also encouraging followers to donate to First Book at https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/hot-dudes-reading-for-a-cause. Hot Dudes Reading will showcase their favorite photos from across the nation at www.hotdudesreading.com as well as on their Instagram account.
