Inside Rx Provides Savings on Influenza Medications
Added savings to flu medications available through the program comes as the CDC reports worst influenza outbreak in nearly a decade
FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J., Feb. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Inside Rx today announced that it is now offering better pricing on the brand and generic versions of Tamiflu® (oseltamivir phosphate) to help Americans affected by what the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has called the worst recorded influenza season in almost a decade. Launched last year by Express Scripts (NASDAQ: ESRX), the Inside RxSM prescription savings program can provide deeper savings to people who pay full-list price for prescription medications.
Working with the manufacturer, Genentech, Inside Rx is offering savings of up to 25 percent on brand-name Tamiflu, and through its network of 40,000 pharmacies, will offer a discount of up to 28 percent on generics as compared to their respective cash prices for eligible patients.
"The addition of Tamiflu and generic oseltamivir phosphate to the catalog of discounted medications available through Inside Rx is another example of the meaningful value we can provide to Americans who pay out-of-pocket for their medications," said Inside Rx CEO Leslie Achter. "Having affordable access to a medication like Tamiflu during this severe flu season can make a difference for people who have an increased risk for flu complications."
According to the CDC, more than six percent of the country currently has the flu, and the virus is spreading rapidly, with 48 states and Puerto Rico showing high activity. In addition, they anticipate several more weeks of this flu season.
Dan Jernigan, M.D., M.P.H, director of the CDC's Influenza Division, recently stated: "For treatment, CDC recommends prompt treatment with flu antiviral drugs for people who are very sick with flu symptoms or people who are at high risk of developing serious flu complications when they get the flu."
To benefit from these discounts users simply need to download the free discount card from insiderx.com, or via GoodRx.com/brand, and present it at one of the 40,000 participating pharmacies located across the U.S. and Puerto Rico. These include national chains such as Kroger® Family of Pharmacies, CVS® and Walgreens®. There is no membership fee to benefit from the savings offered through Inside Rx, which also partners with GoodRx to connect patients with savings at the pharmacy.
