Electrical probes are commonly used with testing and measuring instruments for testing electrical circuits. These probes have high input impedance for reducing loading effects on the circuit under test. The impedance of conventional probes decreases significantly at high frequency ranges, which can result in loading of the circuit at high frequencies. The IP package for sale provides an innovative tool for testing at all frequency ranges; improving upon the cumbersome solution currently employed of large, non-durable probe tips that require a power source.

The portfolio includes a probe that uses a conductive structure called a whisker that extends beyond the probe for obtaining test signals from a circuit node. The relative positioning of the whisker and other parts of the probe form a small capacitor at the probe tip for mitigating loading effects at high frequencies. The components used in the probe are all passive, having a durable probe tip, and do not require an electrical power source. In this embodiment the signal under test is recovered in real-time by software and convolution integration.
