Innovari Signs Grid Optimization Partnership With Panamanian Utility ENSA
AUSTIN, Texas, April 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Interactive energy platform developer, Innovari, has signed on with ENSA, a subsidiary of the EPM Group, to implement a grid optimization program with the Panamanian utility in an effort to manage peak demand and more efficiently use generation resources.
ENSA is one of two utilities that serve the country of Panama, which consumes approximately 2.980 GWh annually and is home to 409,000 customers. ENSA is receiving support to initiate this project in the form of a feasibility study grant from the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA). Innovari will deploy its Interactive Energy Platform™ (IEP) throughout the utility's distribution system to help ENSA improve its service reliability for their end-use customers while also improving their system utilization, reliability and grid situational awareness.
"We are thrilled to be working with ENSA on this project to help deliver reliable electric power to its end-use customers," said Manuel Arancibia, Innovari President of Latin America. "Panama's economy is one of the fastest growing in the region and we believe our platform can help ENSA keep up with its demand and improve grid efficiency and load control."
"Our work with Innovari is the first partnership of its kind in Panama and centers around our continued desire to provide the most affordable and efficient service possible to our customers," said Rafael Rios, Director of Engineering at ENSA. "The energy needs in Panama are on the rise and the technical, economic and financial benefits associated with deploying Innovari's IEP are exactly what we feel is needed to improve energy delivery during peak hours."
USTDA and ENSA signed the grant agreement on April 8, with the project scheduled to start in early May of 2015.
