GREENBELT, Md., Jan. 23, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Inncuvate Consulting and the Prince George's County Social Innovation Fund (PGCSIF) launched a platform to focus on uniting innovators and entrepreneurs who reside in Prince George's County in order to mature the local innovation ecosystem. Innovation ecosystem describes the large number and diverse nature of participants and resources that are necessary for innovation. These include entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, university faculty, venture capitalists as well as business development and other technical service providers such as accountants, lawyers, designers, manufacturers and providers of skills training and professional development
As Prince George's County, Maryland continues to experience considerable community and economic development activity the Innovate Prince George's platform focuses on connecting these likely participants that normally commute outside of Prince George's County to the local assets and resources. The goal is to increase local talent focus to help quickly bring solutions to a broad range of community and economic development challenges. The goal of the platform is to build a stronger economy, stronger families and ultimately a stronger community which will results in a more thriving community where less residents leave the County daily for employment and are able to invest their time and talents to ensure that the County benefits from and is part of the larger ecosystem of innovation that is occurring in the region.

The launch event was held at the Old Greenbelt Theatre and consisted of several panel discussions and presentations. The discussion were around what is needed to build a foundation for an innovation ecosystem and how to focus on the unique cultural factors. There were also a number of presentations on innovative programs that are occurring in and/or directly impacting County residents. Innovate Prince Georges will continue with a number of convening events leading up to an annual summit that reports on the status of the local innovation ecosystem .
