Inmate Phone Call Provider, Securus Technologies, Announces Over 65,000 Downloads of New Video Visitation Mobile App for Android™ and Apple® Devices
The recently launched app has already connected thousands of inmates with their loved ones through video calls via mobile phones and devices.
DALLAS, Feb. 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Securus Technologies, a leading provider of civil and criminal justice technology solutions for public safety, investigation, corrections and monitoring, announced the successful user adoption of its mobile application for inmate video phone calls for both Android smartphones and tablets and Apple iPhones®, iPads® and iPod touches®.
The Android phone app launched less than 6 months ago, and has been downloaded over 60,000 times, while the version for Apple devices launched last week and has already been downloaded almost 5,000 times.
"Securus' Video Visit mobile app represents another way we Serve and Connect, connecting family and friends with an easier, more convenient way to visit their incarcerated loved ones," said Russell Roberts, Vice President of Marketing and Strategy at Securus Technologies. "Until recently, family and friends who wanted to connect with their loved ones had no choice in how they participated in phone calls or visits, so we made the investment necessary to bring more options to the visitation process. Our Securus Video Visit app brings the mobility consumers are familiar with to the rigidness of jails and prisons – making inmate phone calls and visitation more convenient for everyone involved."
The Securus Video Visitation mobile app provides an easy and convenient way for families of inmates to video call loved ones using Android and Apple phones or tablets. With this free mobile app, families can share life's special moments like birthdays, holidays, and sporting events and help loved ones feel at home in a way that phone calls cannot.
The Securus Video Visit application can be found on Google Play™ and the App Store. In addition to remote visitation, the application offers users the ability to sync visit details to calendars, receive notifications for upcoming visits and the ability to test Wi-Fi or cellular connections for optimal video quality.
The Securus Video Visit application eliminates the need for tethered computers, web cameras and additional hardware. Mobile users simply use their Android or Apple devices with access to cellular service or Wi-Fi.
"Our remote visitation app for Android and Apple helps bring families and friends together during special occasions, when travel to the jail is logistically inconvenient, and phone calls just aren't enough," said Roberts.
