ING DIRECT is looking for the next Superstar Saver
Canadian musical phenomenon Walk Off The Earth helps the bank launch its second YouTube® contest, challenging Canadians to share the most creative ways they save money
TORONTO, May 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ - What are the most original ways Canadians save their money? ING DIRECT is asking Canadians to get creative and submit videos of inventive ways they save money for a chance to win $10,000. The Canadian Superstar Saver Search, which debuted in 2007 with the launch of YouTube®, puts the spotlight back on the importance of saving in an engaging, fun way that allows Canadians to share their best ideas on achieving savings goals.
Walk Off The Earth, the multi-talented Juno Award nominated Canadian indie band, has partnered with ING DIRECT to help kick off the online video contest on YouTube®. With their innovative style and creative approach to music interpretations, Walk Off The Earth has recorded a unique cover and video to Madonna's well-known "Material Girl" song to officially launch the Canadian Superstar Saver Search contest.
Video entries must be no more than three minutes long and uploaded onto the Canadian Superstar Saver Search YouTube® page by 11:59pm EST, May 30, 2013. Two $10,000 grand prizes will be awarded, one for the best original English video and one for the best original French video. Second place winners, for both English and French, will receive $3,000, and third place winners, for both English and French, will each get $2,000.
To inspire Canadians' creativity, sample videos showing interesting ways people attempt to save a dollar can also be found on the Canadian Superstar Saver Search page. Examples include a man using a dog park as a gym by stuffing hotdogs in his pants and getting chased by dogs, a woman making a carpet out of small rug samples and a person riding a bike everywhere, from the shower to the boardroom.
"We want to help Canadians live better lives by changing the conversation about money and there is no better, more interactive way to do that than with a contest like this," said Andrew Zimakas, Chief Marketing Officer, ING DIRECT. "The Canadian Superstar Saver Search, which was a big success in 2007, is a unique way for us to encourage and reward creative saving ideas and to inspire Canadians to save their money. We're also very excited by the opportunity to work with Walk Off The Earth, a great Canadian band that is truly independent and original in how they create and share their music."
"Since YouTube's Canadian launch in 2007, ING DIRECT has been on the forefront of engaging with consumers on YouTube," said Marshall Self, Head of Media Solutions for Google Canada. "Canadians are not only among the leaders in online video viewership, but also are among the most popular creators of content on YouTube. It's great to see ING DIRECT partnering with a talented Canadian band and YouTube success story, Walk Off The Earth, as they continue to connect with consumers through the power of sight, sound and motion."
Canadians can submit their original two to three minute videos on YouTube.com starting today through May 30, 2013. ING DIRECT will narrow down the entries to the top 10 English and the top 10 French videos. Voting will be open to all Canadians between June 2 and June 15, 2013. Winners, both English and French, will be announced on the Canadian Superstar Saver Search YouTube® page on June 21, 2013. Prize money will be deposited into an ING DIRECT Investment Savings Account.
