Infusion Nurses Society Celebrates 40 Years at Annual Convention in Charlotte, NC
"Queen City" Is Home to NASCAR Hall of Fame
NORWOOD, Mass., May 14, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Infusion nurses from around the world will gather at the Infusion Nurses Society's (INS) 40th Annual Convention and Industrial Exhibition in Charlotte, NC, May 18-23, 2013. The theme, "LEAD (Leadership, Education, Accountability, Development)," highlights the responsibilities of infusion nurses in today's health care environment. INS promotes and improves the quality of infusion care by keeping infusion nurses, clinicians, and allied health care professionals abreast of new practice and technologic advances, primarily through national meetings.
The 40th Annual Convention will feature nearly 80 educational sessions, hands-on Simulation Labs, industry-sponsored Exhibitor Theaters, and an exhibit hall filled with representatives of the top infusion-related companies in the country. INS President Kathy Puglise, MSN/ED, RN, CRNI®, will welcome more than 1,000 attendees to the Charlotte Convention Center. Educational sessions during the week include three specific "tracks," covering topics on research, biologic therapies, and quality improvement.
NASCAR champion and TV analyst Michael Waltrip will present the keynote address. He'll tell the story of how his life changed "In the Blink of an Eye" and how he lifted himself up after dealing with the sudden death of his friend and car owner Dale Earnhardt.
INS is also sponsoring a charitable initiative aimed at preventing life-threatening diseases around the world through the simple act of hand washing. The nonprofit organization Clean the World recycles and distributes donated soap and toiletries to impoverished people worldwide. A donation bin will accept attendees' donations, and INS will ship them to Clean the World headquarters in Florida.
"This 40th anniversary convention promises to have special meaning for many of our longtime members," said INS CEO Mary Alexander, MA, RN, CRNI®, CAE, FAAN. "Along with the education programs and exhibitors, we'll have a special area set aside to highlight INS' major milestones through the years so our members can reminisce. And we're very pleased to be returning to North Carolina, where we held our very first Society national meeting."
