Infusion Nurses Society Annual Convention in Louisville Draws Specialists from Around the Globe
NORWOOD, Mass., May 10, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Infusion nurses from around the world will focus on increasing their clinical knowledge at the Infusion Nurses Society's (INS) 38th Annual Convention and Industrial Exhibition in Louisville, KY, May 21-26. The "Bridges to a Global Alliance" gathering will feature nearly 80 educational sessions, hands-on Simulation Labs, industry-sponsored Exhibitor Theaters, and more than 80 representatives of the top infusion related companies in the country.
INS President Nancy Mortlock, BSN, RN, CRNI®, OCN®, will welcome 1,000 attendees, including nearly 100 attendees from 19 nations. "The presence of so many international attendees this year offers numerous opportunities for sharing knowledge and building bridges to a global alliance of infusion professionals," she said.
Educational sessions during the week include a five-hour Focus session on Oncology and Track Sessions on Clinical Competency and Legal Considerations for infusion nurses. Because INS published an updated version of its renowned Infusion Nursing Standards of Practice earlier this year, there will be two different sessions describing the production of this critically important publication.
Former Major League Baseball pitcher Jim Abbott, who was born with one hand, will deliver the Keynote Address and plans to speak about overcoming obstacles to success and adapting to circumstances while remaining determined to succeed.
"For 38 years, the INS Annual Convention has provided infusion nurses with opportunities to grow professionally," said INS CEO Mary Alexander, MA, RN, CRNI®, CAE, FAAN. "This year will be no exception. We're excited to be offering the most up-to-date information on infusion therapy practice and technological advances available. Our attendees will also have some time to enjoy Louisville's hospitality after the educational sessions are over for the day."
