Information Operations Europe Conference Announced to Address the Impact of Extremism
OBERAMMERGAU, Germany and ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Association of Old Crows (AOC) Information Operations Institute will host the Information Operations Europe 2012 Conference at the NATO School in Oberammergau, Germany, February 22nd to the 23rd. This conference will discuss the rise of extremism and the role of Information Operations. During the "Arab Spring," disaffected people across the Arab Region and Northern Africa united to over-throw long-standing governments through the use of the information environment. These groups leveraged all information elements to garner feverish support within their home nation, across their region, and to the entire world. Events surrounding "Arab Spring" awakened Western citizens to the plight of disenfranchised populations in those regions. This conference breaks down the information environment and how it is used by individuals and groups to advance extreme objectives within nation states. Surrounded by the beautiful landscape of the Bavarian mountains, Oberammergau is the ideal atmosphere for dedicated professionals to share experiences, debate policies and concepts, and shape the future of information operations.
