Infiniti Announces U.S. Sales For July 2013

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Aug. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- In anticipation of the all-new Infiniti Q50 luxury sports sedan that is scheduled to go on sale later this month, the luxury automaker  today reported U.S. sales of 7,762 units for July, a decrease of 33.2 percent versus a record-setting 11,619 units a year earlier.  Calendar year-to-date Infiniti sales are down 9.1 percent compared to the 65,996 units sold during the same period last year.

With sales of 2,717 units, the Infiniti QX60 7-passenger luxury crossover was up 37.4 percent and had its best July since introduction. Infiniti's crossovers and sport utility vehicles were up 10.5 percent overall for the month.

"Infiniti and its retailer body across the U.S. are anxiously anticipating the first sales of the all-new Q50 luxury sports sedan later this month," said Ben Poore, Infiniti Americas vice president. "With a highly successful pre-sale program that resulted in more than 3,500 customers reserving their Q50, drivers will soon be experiencing world-first technologies such as Direct Adaptive Steering and Predictive Forward Collision Warning."

July also marks the first sales of vehicles with Infiniti's new nomenclature change. Beginning with the 2014 model year, the automaker's models are based on the letter Q, followed by a double digit number reflecting the hierarchy in its range. This month, Infiniti began selling the QX50 personal luxury crossover (EX), QX60 7-passenger crossover (JX), QX70 performance crossover (FX), and the QX80 full-size SUV (QX).
