Infinite Power Solutions' CEO, Ray Johnson, Named Colorado Cleantech Entrepreneur of the Year by Colorado Cleantech Industry Association
LITTLETON, Colo., Oct. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Infinite Power Solutions, Inc. (IPS) today announced that its president and chief executive officer, Ray Johnson, has been named Colorado's Cleantech Entrepreneur of the Year by the Colorado Cleantech Industry Association (CCIA). Johnson received this accolade during the CCIA's inaugural Cleantech Awards Celebration, which was held earlier this week in Denver. Selected from an impressive list of notable Colorado executives, Johnson is heralded for his leadership while at the helm of IPS, a clean technology company that has won worldwide acclaim for its game-changing, rechargeable solid-state battery technology.
Under Johnson's guidance, IPS has become the global leader in developing, marketing and manufacturing its solid-state rechargeable batteries that are changing the way micro-electronic products are designed, powered and recharged. The company's THINERGY® Micro-Energy Cells (MEC) and INFINERGY® Micro-Power Module (MPM) products were launched in 2009. Both product families are displacing conventional batteries and super-capacitors in a wide variety of markets and applications. In addition, these unique products enable all forms of ambient energy harvesting solutions used to create autonomous, perpetual power supplies for the growing demand among wireless sensor, active RFID, biometric smartcards, medical device, consumer electronic, automotive and military markets. IPS and its products have repeatedly been recognized by the electronics industry as the most innovative and best in class.
At IPS, Johnson has built and now leads a world-class team of product development, engineering, manufacturing and technical marketing professionals. During his tenure, Johnson has grown the company's workforce from 5 employees to more than 45; helped launch the company's award-winning energy storage products into the global marketplace; raised more than $60 million in venture capital investment; formed strategic partnerships with Fortune 100 companies; and, completed the build-out of the world's first and only volume manufacturing facility for solid state, thin-film battery technology—achieving ISO 9001 certification earlier this year.
Commenting on the award, Christine Shapard, Executive Director of the CCIA, noted, "The CCIA's award selection committee was very impressed by what Ray has been able to accomplish at Infinite Power Solutions in the past five years. His ability to grow the company to the extent he has by bringing in investment capital and building out the manufacturing line has been quite impressive. We're pleased to have recognized him."
"I'm truly humbled by this recognition, which is due in large part to the extremely talented and driven professionals at IPS. I commend them for their tireless efforts and commitment to change the future of the electronics industry through our world-class energy storage products," said Johnson. "I was also pleased that IPS was named one of five finalists for the CCIA's High-impact Cleantech Company of the Year Award. Although we did not win in this particular category, it was a significant tribute to be among the caliber of companies that were honored for their leadership in advancing cleantech," he added.
