IRVINE, Calif., Dec. 11, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Infinite Electronics, Inc., a leading global supplier of electronic components serving the urgent needs of engineers through a family of highly recognized and trusted brands, is taking part in an employee community service project to collect books for the Jingle Books book drive, in partnership with the United Way of North Idaho.
As part of an ongoing initiative to be involved and give back to the community, Infinite Electronics employees have been collecting, sorting and delivering books for this book drive that benefits children in Kindergarten through 3rd grade in the Hayden, Coeur d'Alene, Canfield and Post Falls, Idaho areas. The goal of this program is to provide the children with 3 new or gently used, age-appropriate books they can read over the holiday break.
"Increased access to books that kids can self-select is a key strategy in collective efforts to increase 3rd grade literacy proficiency," says Keri Stark, Director of Community Impact for United Way. "When children read confidently at 3rd grade, they are set up for future success because around that time is when they graduate from 'learn to read' and are expected to 'read to learn.' The Jingle Books drive shows that our community is invested in youth literacy, and that is the reason it is successful."
This collection began on October 15th and will continue until December 13th. Over 20,000 books have been collected for this year's drive. To date, Infinite's employees have delivered collection boxes to 24 locations throughout the area. Additionally, employees have contributed to this effort by picking up boxes of books, cleaning and sorting books. Infinite employees will also be on-hand to help the children choose from thousands of books on December 14th and 17th.
"Volunteerism is important to Infinite Electronics because it helps us to build and promote a positive culture within a company and can also influence teamwork in the workplace. By volunteering, we are able to have a direct, positive impact on others, and it is so rewarding to be able to help children in our own community," said Frank Shambarger, Vice President of Human Resources at Infinite Electronics.
