INetU Achieves SSAE 16 Compliance - Five Months Early
Leading managed hosting provider replaces SAS 70 compliance with SSAE 16 Type II months ahead of June 15, 2011 deadline
ALLENTOWN, Pa., Jan. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Businesses looking to comply with the AICPA's Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements No. 16 (SSAE 16) early can go to INetU for their managed hosting needs. Well in advance of the June 15, 2011, deadline, INetU has passed an independent audit and has been recognized as a SSAE 16 Type II compliant hosting company.
"INetU prides itself on staying ahead of the curve and this is just another example of that philosophy in action," said Dev Chanchani, president of INetU. "As more and more businesses provide outsourcing services, SSAE 16 Type II compliance will continue to be an important issue when choosing a managed hosting provider and INetU is proactively meeting their needs."
INetU's third party auditor did not find any exceptions in their report. This means that for each control objective, INetU met or exceeded expectations.
There is a large and ever-growing list of industries and business sectors that are considered service organizations for purposes of SSAE 16 Type II compliance. The growth in outsourcing, combined with increased mandates for security, will force more businesses to comply with the SSAE 16 Type II in the future.
By June 15, 2011, all reports on controls at service organizations must be performed in accordance with SSAE 16 Type II, at which point, the current SAS 70 reporting standard will no longer be valid for new audits. The SSAE 16 standard was issued by Auditing Standards Board of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) in April 2010 and was put in place to help regulate how controls are audited and how topical these controls are to an organization's customers.
SSAE 16 aligns U.S. service organization reporting standards with the international standard, ISAE 3402. Another key difference between SAS 70 and SSAE 16 Type II is the addition of a management assertion section in the audit report. Furthermore, SSAE 16 Type II requires tracking on changes to controls and documentation on what changes were made and who approved them.
