"This agreement is a key milestone for INEOS Bio. It is a crucial step as we move into the phase of licensing our Bioenergy Technology globally to help solve to address the world's waste management challenges," said Peter Williams, CEO of INEOS Bio. "We've designed our sustainable solution so it's easily licensed and can be replicated around the world to create renewable bioenergy from waste, bringing us energy independence and providing opportunities for cleantech jobs."
AMEC is one of the world's leading international engineering, procurement and construction management firms with deep expertise in the clean energy, environment and infrastructure markets. AMEC's experience in similar markets, along with its dedication to sustainable business practices makes it an ideal license support contractor for INEOS Bio. The two companies are currently working together on the first commercial-scale facility to deploy this advanced waste-to-bioenergy technology. Slated to come online in Q2 2012, the Indian River BioEnergy Center in Vero Beach, Florida will produce eight million gallons of advanced cellulosic ethanol and six megawatts (gross) of renewable power, while providing a solution for dealing with waste that would normally end up in a landfill.
"We are pleased INEOS Bio selected AMEC to handle the engineering designs of its waste-to-bioenergy technology," said Neil Bruce, AMEC's Chief Operating Officer "We are proud of our continued relationship with INEOS and believe our experience working with advanced bioprocesses and our first-hand understanding of the INEOS Bio technology will benefit future licensees."
INEOS Bio will strategically license its advanced bioenergy technology globally, while capitalizing on decades of licensing experience from its parent company, INEOS, and its global businesses. As the leading licensor of chemical process technology, INEOS currently has over 270 licenses for its technologies in 51 countries around the world. INEOS Bio will utilize a similar approach and leverage its skills, experience and resources to replicate this leading technology on a global basis.
