RALEIGH, N.C., Sept. 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Medical Science Liaison Society (MSL Society), the only non-profit organization exclusively dedicated to advancing the global medical science liaison (MSL) profession, has launched the industry's first live onboard training program exclusively designed for newly-hired MSLs.
The new 5-day program will be offered in multiple locations, with the inaugural program taking place in Orlando, FL from December 5-9, 2016. Future locations are being scheduled in the U.S. and Europe for dates throughout 2017. The program is ideal for all newly-hired MSLs regardless of their company type, therapeutic area (TA) or years of experience.
The onboard training program is being facilitated by current MSL managers and MSL trainers from top pharmaceutical companies, and covers the essentials that an MSL needs to succeed with any company, including:
- Overview of the industry
- The MSL Role
- Regulatory Compliance
- Proactive vs. Reactive Discussions
- KOL Relationship Development
- On-Label vs. Off-Label
- How to Critically Evaluate Research Papers
- Overview of Statistics
- Clinical Pharmacology
- Presentation Skills
"Onboarding and training new Medical Science Liaisons to a company can be stressful, time-consuming and expensive," stated Dr. Samuel Dyer, CEO of the MSL Society. "Many companies do not have the internal resources or the adequate time needed to fully onboard new MSLs. In fact, in a recent global survey, 72 percent of MSLs report that their initial onboard training consisted of only being given a set of journal articles related to the product or disease state for at home self-study! Our new program fills this critical training and orientation gap, and puts both emerging MSLs and the companies that hire them on track for long-term success."
