MENLO PARK, Calif., Nov. 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Tonic Health, the leading cloud-based patient data collection and analytics platform among large enterprise health systems, payers and pharmaceutical companies, today announced Scott Coons has joined the company's Board of Directors. Coons brings more than 20 years of software development and executive leadership in the enterprise software technology industry.
"We are thrilled to welcome Scott to Tonic's board of directors," said Sterling Lanier, co-founder and CEO of Tonic Health. "Scott is an operational expert with a history of innovation in enterprise software. His record of success in leading companies like Tonic through rapid growth comes at a perfect time for us."
With a background in software engineering, Coons co-founded Perceptive Software in 1995 and led the research and development of the industry's most comprehensive suite of process and content management software solutions for healthcare, higher education, finance and other key industries.
As Perceptive's CEO, Coons oversaw the company's rapid and sustained growth, which led to its acquisition by Lexmark International in 2010. Coons continued on as President and CEO of Lexmark Enterprise Software, guiding the acquisition and integration of 11 other software companies under the Lexmark umbrella, until his retirement in July 2015.
"This is an exciting time to be part of Tonic's evolution and continued acceleration in the healthcare IT space," said Coons. "I'm very impressed by the company's passion for and technical approach to reimagining health information management and the patient data collection experience."
Tonic's best-in-class patient data collection and analytics platform allows large health systems, payers and pharmaceutical companies to more effectively capture, analyze and integrate patient-reported information using a simple, visually engaging digital experience, instead of the less efficient and often error-prone paper forms and surveys. With a similar aim as the well-known "5 Rights of Medication Safety," Tonic offers its own 5 Rights of Patient Data Collection: get the right information from the right patient on the right device in the right setting at the right time. Tonic's HIPAA-compliant, intelligent platform then aggregates and presents this vital data for one unified, fully-informed view of the patient.
"Tonic has clearly taken a patient-first approach to software development, which is a big reason they've enjoyed such swift adoption and remarkable customer success," said Coons. "The impact they continue to have at many of the largest organizations in healthcare proves the high value of their technology."
Tonic is trusted by a wide range of leading enterprise health systems, payers and pharmaceutical companies, including Partners HealthCare, New York-Presbyterian, Providence Health & Services, the Department of Veteran's Affairs, Emory Univ. Health, MedStar Health, UCLA Health, Cigna, Pfizer and Biogen, among many others. These organizations employ Tonic's cloud-based platform to help streamline and optimize their patient data collection needs, including patient intake, patient payments, patient screeners and risk assessments, patient satisfaction, patient reported outcomes, consent forms, clinical trials and much more.
