Industrial building, aquaculture equipment to sell in Nov. 12 Woltz auction
SALTVILLE, Va., Oct. 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The 20-acre site industrial facility, land and equipment formerly used by Virginia Cobia Farms will sell at auction Wednesday, Nov. 12, with Woltz & Associates managing the sale.
The auction will include the building and annex, which total 54,000 square feet, as well as all the equipment used for the seafood production.
"There are very few complete aquaculture operations on this scale, and it's possible that someone will want to use the property for that purpose. But the building would be excellent for a wide range of industrial applications. The main building, built in 2004, is 200 feet by 200 feet, and the annex was built in 2012. The entire facility has 24-foot ceilings and three-phase electricity," said Jim Woltz, president of the auction company.
"Aquaculture is a vital industry that provides a great deal of the fish we eat in today's world. It's possible that someone may wish to re-establish this as an aquaculture facility, but it is also likely that someone else in the industry will purchase the equipment – which includes tanks, biofilters, protein skimmers, pumps, and incubator systems – for use elsewhere," he said.
The equipment will sell absolute, with no minimum or reserve. The building and land will sell subject to a published reserve of $595,000.
Woltz noted that the site also provides access to major cities throughout the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. "This property is only a few minutes from Interstate 81, which is critical to the next owner's ability to transport products to market," he said.
The auction will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the property, 108 Battleground Avenue, Saltville, Va. Remote bidding will be available via Internet.
Woltz personnel will be available at the site from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, and Wednesday, Nov. 5. Those seeking additional information may visit www.woltz.com or call 800-551-3588.
