LOS ANGELES, March 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Penske Media Corporation (PMC) has tapped Michael Schneider to serve in the newly created role of Executive Editor of Indiewire, the leading digital brand devoted to curating, reporting, and celebrating the best in film, TV, and entertainment.
At Indiewire, Schneider will oversee the site's growing TV team and help greatly expand its coverage of the industry, including breaking news stories, in-depth reports, features, and commentary on all aspects of television – from the executive suite to Emmys to programming. He joins Indiewire on April 11 and will report to Indiewire Editor in Chief Dana Harris.
"His deep connections in the industry and solid reporting skills make him the perfect hire to expand Indiewire's coverage of television business, features, news, and programming," said Harris.
"I look forward to working with Dana in making Indiewire the first place readers go to learn about the revolution in how television is produced, distributed, and consumed," said Schneider. "I've enjoyed watching Jay Penske continue to grow PMC into a media powerhouse, and am thrilled to now be a part of his team."
Schneider's work as an Editor-at-Large for Variety brings him back to a brand where he previously served as TV Editor for Variety and Daily Variety, a post he held from 1999 through 2011.
Previously, Schneider was the Chief Content Officer at TV Guide Magazine, a premier publication devoted to television where he also helped launch the website TV Insider. Schneider is also a regular contributor to Los Angeles public radio station KCRW, where he hosts "The Spin-Off," a podcast about the TV industry, and also appears on the Hollywood-focused radio program "The Business."
As a television expert, Schneider has appeared on ABC "World News Tonight" and "Primetime Live," NBC's "Today" show and "Dateline NBC," CBS' "Early Show," "Access Hollywood," E! News Daily, CNN, MSNBC, NPR and many other programs and outlets.
