ATLANTA, May 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Surgical Information Systems (SIS), a leader in perioperative information systems, announced today that Indiana Orthopaedic Hospital (IOH) has selected SIS Anesthesia, the company's anesthesia information management system (AIMS). Along with the SIS AIMS solution, IOH will be implementing SIS Analytics Anesthesia View, a role-based analytics tool that provides anesthesia providers with actionable intelligence to view data from the OR and improve anesthesia work flow processes and operational efficiencies.
Executives at IOH cited several factors in selecting the SIS AIMS solution including:
- increased efficiencies in the OR with automated work flow wizards that assure complete clinical documentation;
- robust anesthesia analytics tools that assist in regulatory reporting and support better patient outcomes; and
- integration into the organization's core Meditech hospital information system, including its surgery module.
"An electronic anesthesia record and a rich set of perioperative data to support reporting and care improvement efforts is a key component of our ongoing success, especially in the current hospital operating environment which is impacted so strongly by health care reform mandates and intensifying demands from health care payers," said Joseph R. Lafnitzegger, M.D., IOH's Chief of Anesthesia, "SIS' AIMS solution will allow our anesthesia providers to more quickly complete clinical documentation, freeing up more time for direct patient care."
Working closely with its integration partner, Iatric Systems, Inc. (Boxford, MA), SIS will provide direct integration between SIS Anesthesia and the hospital's Meditech OR information system enabling data to flow directly on to the hospital's core Meditech EHR.
"SIS Anesthesia, coupled with role-based business intelligence with SIS Analytics, meets the needs of hospitals like Indiana Orthopaedic Hospital that have a surgery solution and need robust AIMS functionality to complete their perioperative automation," said Ed Daihl, SIS Chief Executive Officer.
SIS' AIMS is exclusively endorsed by the American Hospital Association (AHA) and SIS Analytics was recently granted Peer Reviewed status by the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).
