Independent Political Committee Launches Effort in Nevada
HarryReidVotes.com Presents '1001 Reasons to Vote Against Harry Reid'
LAS VEGAS, Aug. 25 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today a new political committee was launched for the purpose of defeating the Democratic Majority Leader in the U.S. Senate, Harry Reid. The committee, 1001 Reasons to Vote Against Harry Reid, will exist online at http://www.harryreidvotes.com for the purpose of educating the public about Senator Reid's voting record and raising the funds necessary to finance television and radio ads this fall. It is an independent 527 committee chaired by Nevada resident and former U.S. Senate candidate Danny Tarkanian.
Each week the committee will release 50 to 100 of Sen. Reid's past votes and public comments through HarryReidVotes.com, mail and social networking outlets. Radio ads will begin airing next week and continue through November and television ads will air in September and October. Voters will be encouraged to visit the HarryReidVotes.com website and use the interactive quiz function http://www.harryreidvotes.com/quiz/ to see how their views align with Senator Reid's votes.
"Harry Reid is the classic example of the two-faced pol who says one thing when he's home with his constituents but then votes another way. He may be tuned into the Obama/Pelosi agenda, but he's completely out of touch with the needs of Nevadans. Our state is hurting with unemployment close to 15%, new regulations are strangling businesses and killing jobs, tax increases to pay for Obamacare are on the horizon and our national security is in danger. Harry Reid doesn't want to take responsibility for his record, but we're documenting all of those votes," said Tarkanian.
Tarkanian continued, "The voters of Nevada are hard working, smart people. I believe that once they are presented with the facts, they will say 'No' to Sen. Reid's cynical spin and elect someone new to represent our great state in the U.S. Senate."
The first 100 votes became available yesterday at HarryReidVotes.com and the group is gaining momentum quickly on social networks, including Facebook and Twitter. According to the latest poll released by Rasmussen Reports, Sen. Reid and his Republican opponent Sharron Angle are locked in a dead-heat, both polling at 47 percent.
