According to CreditCards.com, the State of Texas had 12,017 personal bankruptcies in the first quarter of 2012, a 1% decrease over the last quarter of 2011. The number means that Texas ranked 10th for bankruptcy filings on a per capita basis (i.e. bankruptcies per number of residents in the state).
"The numbers have improved slightly but many consumers are still facing economic struggles and bankruptcy is still very much a reality for many consumers," said Beth Mason, InCharge's Director of Outreach Programs for Bankruptcy Services. "The Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005, or BAPCPA, requires debtors to complete both Pre-Filing Credit Counseling and Pre-Discharge Debtor Education courses, of which InCharge has provided over 850,000 since 2006."
The NACBA convention will feature sessions on topics like bankruptcy crimes, the role of debtor's counsel in bankruptcy, marketing your business for attorneys, and avoiding conflicts of interest in consumer bankruptcies. The event will be held at the Marriott Rivercenter on the famous Riverwalk in San Antonio.
Attorneys and anyone seeking a reliable and professional source for consumer bankruptcy courses are encouraged to visit the InCharge booth at this event.
