"The September 2, 2011 numbers from the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) show that consumer bankruptcies were down 11 percent nationwide from August 2010," said Beth Mason, InCharge's Director of Outreach Programs for Bankruptcy Services.  "Those numbers are encouraging but consumer credit remains tight and the city of New York, as an example, remains in the top five for bankruptcy filings."

The Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005, or BAPCPA, requires debtors to complete both Pre-Filing Credit Counseling and Pre-Discharge Debtor Education courses, of which InCharge and its affiliates have provided over 750,000 since 2006."
